Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle form of body work that works with the nervous and other energetic systems to support and enhance the body's inherent health. It is generally performed with the receiver laying clothed on a table, face-up. The practitioner will usually contact the body for several minutes at a time at various places like feet, knees, hips and sacrum, chest, and head, depending on the goals and what is being sensed. Sessions are typically quiet and very peaceful, with the ability to effect deep levels of body awareness.
Senior massage is a form of massage designed to meet the specific needs of the elderly. It can help to improve blood circulation, relieve pain, and also increase range of motion. If you are an older adult, massage can help you maintain and improve your overall health, as well as regain certain physical functions that have been reduced due to aging. In addition, since many older adults don't typically receive enough physical touch, this massage can also help alleviate symptoms of loneliness or depression.
A combination of Swedish and Deep Tissue techniques addresses the whole body with focus on specific areas as needed. Generally, full body work includes head and neck, shoulders, chest, arms, hands, back, hips, legs, and feet. Clients can request any area of the body for focus work or for any area to be left out of the massage. Most sessions include work on a table with the client laying face up or face down, but can also be performed while laying on one or both sides. Work can be performed while clothed or unclothed. If a client prefers to disrobe, they are covered by a sheet and the therapist uses a cream, oil, or lotion to glide on the skin. A successful massage is one in which the client is comfortable, so communication between client and therapist about the best situation for the client and any adjustments needed throughout the session is the key to a good therapeutic relationship.
